A PROGRAM THAT PROMOTES AN INTERNATIONAL IMAGE BUT OFFERS LIMITED PROFESSIONAL OPPORTUNITIES UNLESS STUDENTS SPEAK FRENCH.

Avis de PoweredByRage - Programme MBA (Directeur d'Hôtellerie Internationale) - Vatel

  • Quel est, selon vous, le principal atout de ce programme ?

The main asset of the program is the effort of certain teachers who genuinely tried to provide quality instruction and prepare students professionally. Some courses, such as Computer Science, Marketing, Organization Management and HR, Finance, and Taxation, were valuable and useful. However, the strengths of individual teachers were not enough to compensate for the weaknesses in program management, administration, internship support, and industry exposure.

  • Quelle est, selon vous, la principale faiblesse de ce programme ?

The main weakness of the program is the lack of structure, support, and real professional exposure. The MBA program did not feel sufficiently aligned with MBA-level expectations, especially regarding internship guidance, administrative follow-up, industry connections, international opportunities, and communication. The program relies heavily on the Vatel name, but in practice, the support and opportunities provided were not strong enough to justify the reputation or the cost of the program.

  • Commentaires généraux

Overall, my experience with the MBA program at Vatel Nîmes was disappointing. While some teachers were committed and provided valuable courses, the program as a whole lacked organization, clear communication, professional support, and meaningful industry exposure. I expected stronger guidance from the administration and internship coordinators, especially for an MBA-level program with international students. The gap between what was presented during recruitment and what was actually delivered created a loss of trust. Despite these challenges, I did gain valuable lessons from the experience. I became more independent, more resilient, and more capable of managing difficult academic, administrative, and professional situations on my own. I also learned to be more critical when evaluating institutions, programs, and professional opportunities. On a personal level, I am grateful to have built a meaningful friendship with a truly professional Kenyan classmate, in addition to the support I had from my sister. However, these positive outcomes came more from the people I met and the difficulties I had to overcome than from the support provided by the school itself.

    Contenu académique du programme

I am not satisfied with the academic content because the program did not feel balanced. Some useful subjects, such as Computer Science, and Events Management were covered in only a few sessions, while other subjects received a lot of time despite not being included in the final exams. I was also disappointed by the absence of French and Spanish classes, although they were presented during recruitment as part of the program. The program also lacked industry exposure, such as guest speakers, alumni talks, company visits, and partnerships with major hospitality groups like Accor or Marriott. Compared with Vatel Thailand, the MBA program at Vatel Nîmes felt much less connected to the real hospitality industry.

    Moyens pédagogiques (bibliothèque, WIFI, locaux)

I am dissatisfied with the educational resources available to students. Given the high tuition fees, I expected basic academic services and facilities to be more accessible. For example, printing was not included and students still had to pay extra for it. In addition, there was no physical library available, which was disappointing for an MBA program. Overall, the resources provided did not feel fully aligned with the cost of the program.

    Qualité des professeurs permanents

I am satisfied with the teaching staff and faculty overall. I appreciated the courses in Computer Science, Marketing, Organization Management and HR, as well as Finance and Taxation. I believe all the teachers across all subjects did their best and were committed to providing quality instruction. However, I still think the program would benefit greatly from more industry exposure. Inviting guest speakers, alumni, business owners, and professionals from major hospitality groups, as well as organizing company visits, would make the learning experience even more valuable and strengthen the connection between the program and the real hospitality industry.

  • 110

    Qualité des intervenants professionnels extérieurs

I am not satisfied with the external professional lecturers because there was not enough exposure to industry professionals. The program would have been more valuable with guest speakers, alumni talks, business owners, hotel managers, and professionals from major hospitality groups sharing their real industry experience with students.

Contrôle des connaissances, volume et répartition des cours, travail personnel

I am dissatisfied with the way the lecture hours were divided during the school year. The distribution of subjects did not always feel balanced, as some important and useful courses were given very few sessions, while other subjects received much more time. The organization of the academic schedule could have been clearer and more consistent. I believe the program would benefit from a better balance between lecture hours, personal work, and the relevance of each subject to the MBA program and final evaluations.

    Reconnaissance internationale du programme

I am not at all satisfied with the international recognition of the program. The Vatel name may be internationally known, but the MBA program at Vatel Nîmes did not provide the opportunities that should come with such a reputation. There were no meaningful opportunities to connect with major hotel groups, international professionals, alumni, or business leaders. The program felt disconnected from the global hospitality industry and relied too much on the brand name without offering concrete international exposure.

    Accompagnement/aide si départ à l'étranger

I am not at all satisfied with the support provided to students preparing to go abroad. The support was almost non-existent, and students were expected to handle important steps by themselves without proper guidance. For an international hospitality school, this is extremely disappointing. Students should not have to figure out internship procedures, documentation, administrative requirements, and career preparation alone. The lack of structure, follow-up, and practical assistance made the process feel unprofessional and poorly managed.

Services aux étudiants (orientation, projet pro., scolarité, etc.)

I am not at all satisfied with the student services provided by the administration and program management. The issue is not with the teachers involved in the professional project, as they did make efforts to guide us. The main problem is the lack of effective support from the administrative side and program direction. Important matters were often handled with poor communication, limited follow-up, and little practical assistance. Students were expected to act like MBA-level professionals, but the school did not provide the professional level of support that should come with such a program.

Ambiance, cohésion dans la promo (projets, entraide, loisirs, associations)

I am only moderately satisfied with the overall atmosphere and group cohesion within the cohort. While there were some positive interactions, the environment did not always feel like an MBA-level cohort. I expected a more mature and professionally experienced group, as MBA programs are usually aimed at students with prior work experience or clear professional objectives. The overall atmosphere sometimes felt closer to a continuation of bachelor-level studies rather than a truly professional MBA environment.

Ville étudiante, logement (coût, accès, situation)

I am dissatisfied with the housing conditions. The school dormitory was overpriced for the quality of services provided, especially considering the food and overall value. Renting an apartment outside in the city center during my second year was significantly more affordable and practical. There was also a lack of transparency regarding the dormitory contract, as the duration was not clearly explained before commitment. For international students, housing information should be clearer, fairer, and more focused on student needs rather than simply being another expensive requirement.

    Réseau des anciens, contacts professionnels

I am dissatisfied with the network contacts I was able to build through the program. Although the school offers an alternance program, I did not feel that it significantly helped me build a strong professional network. As an MBA student, I expected more opportunities to connect with experienced professionals, alumni, hospitality companies, and industry leaders. The networking value of the program felt limited and not fully aligned with the expectations of an MBA.

  • 110

Qualité du directeur de programme et notoriété de la formation

I am not at all satisfied with the program management. There is a contradiction between telling students that we are no longer bachelor students and then managing us without the professionalism, guidance, or support expected from an MBA program. Students should be treated as future professionals, with proper communication, career guidance, and structured support. Instead, many important matters, especially internships and administrative follow-up, felt disorganized and poorly supported.

Stages et aide à l'insertion professionnelle

I am not at all satisfied with the internship search support. I expected the school to provide stronger guidance, professional opportunities, and proper follow-up, especially for an MBA-level program. Instead, the process felt largely student-led, with limited support from the school. I also believe the school should better verify internship missions and convention de stage documents to ensure that they are clear, professional, and truly aligned with the academic level and career objectives of MBA students.

Êtes-vous globalement satisfait de votre formation ?

I am dissatisfied because the program did not fully meet my expectations as an MBA student. I expected more structured academic support, clearer communication, and stronger professional guidance, especially regarding internships and career development. I was also informed during recruitment that the MBA program would include French and Spanish classes, but this was not the case, which created a gap between what was communicated before admission and the actual academic experience.

Referiez-vous le même choix de formation aujourd’hui ?

If given the choice today, I would not choose the MBA program at Vatel Nîmes again. I would rather study elsewhere, where the administration and internship coordinators are more supportive, responsive, and organized. The lack of clear guidance, weak follow-up, and poorly structured internship documentation made the overall experience disappointing and below what I expected from an MBA program.
